Privatization Law

Privatization in Turkey gained momentum with the economic liberalization policies that started in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Privatization law in Turkey is determined by numerous legal regulations and legislation. The Presidency of the Privatization Administration of Turkey (PA) is responsible for privatization processes. The PA is tasked with carrying out privatization procedures, identifying assets to be privatized, planning the privatization process, and collecting privatization proceeds.

Privatization in Turkey has been implemented through the privatization of various assets owned by public institutions. These assets include electricity distribution companies, oil refineries, ports, airports, mining enterprises, railways, telecommunications companies, and many other sectors. Privatization processes are generally conducted through tender procedures and in compliance with legal processes.
